Wireless Cellular Phone GPS Navigation System

A Typical Cell Phone Navigation System
Peter Blackman
Sept 2, 2009

A typical Cell Phone GPS navigation system will show a street map with directional arrows and often use voice to offer turn-by-turn directions. It will list distances to the next turn and calculate the distance and time to your destination. There is usually a Cell Phone GPS local directory to provide listings for restaurants, gas stations, ATMs and the like, as well as a map display.

Of course, Cell Phone GPS typically has less screen viewing area than a dedicated GPS. The versions from Verizon and Nextel, which rely on location-based requests from the provider, won't work in areas where there's no cell phone service either.

Should you turn your cell phone into a Cell Phone GPS? Walking or driving, if you're upgrading your cell phone and want to save a little cash and reduce your gadgets by one, you should give the Cell Phone GPS a try.
