Understanding A Built-in Car Phone

What a Built-in Car Phone is and what it is not.
Peter Blackman
Sept 2009

Since a traditional Car Phone uses a high-power transmitter and external antenna, it is ideal for rural or undeveloped areas where Bluetooth Handset Cell Phone may not work well or at all. Also in case of emergency the new technology satisfies new FCC regulations E911 and allows the system to activate an emergency response team to a distressed vehicle manually or automatically and locate the vehicle and communicate with the occupants of the vehicle through the use of Cell Phone GPS navigation systems like OnStar.

These new Mobile Cell systems become more than just a Car Phone.  The  Cell Phone GPS not only keeps track of where the car is but the Cell Phone GPS system can tell you where a specific store or destination is located and help you get there, can call for help through the Cell Phone GPS system if you have an accident, can unlock your car if you inadvertently leave your keys in the car, track your car if it is stolen, turn your engine off if an unautorized driver is in your car and who knows what else.

The down size to these built in Car Phone systems is for this unique service the cost to maintain the system can be expensive so it is not recommended at this time to use this Car Phone system to conduct daily business unless your are may be doing the bulk of your business in a rural setting.
